Women who attend The Footprints Project Community Art Group have been busy creating new designs for their own range of t-shirts and tote bags.
The group meets once a week at Footprints Project HQ in Bournemouth, to work on creative projects under the expert guidance of local artist Samantha March.
The t-shirts and bags, which are all 100% cotton, feature colourful designs inspired by nature including dandelions, butterflies, and birds. The t-shirts are available in black and white versions, in male and female cuts. The tote bags are unisex and come in a natural, strong cotton.
Helen Hempstead, who runs the Women’s Out of Court Diversionary Service at The Footprints Project said: ‘This group provides an opportunity for the women we support to get together and learn some new skills, make new friends and create something of their own. It’s a lovely, relaxing group that everyone looks forward to each week.’
The women who attend the group are taking part in the Out of Court Diversionary Scheme, an initiative that aims to provide support to vulnerable women in the justice system.
One attendee said: ‘I really enjoy this group. Art takes my mind off things. I've done it for nearly two years now, learned new skills and the people who run it are friendly, helpful, and supportive. It’s also free and a great way to meet new friends.’
The t-shirts and bags members of the group are making will be available for purchase soon on the upcoming Footprints Project online shop. Watch this space for more details.
