The Portland Challenge Raises over £12,000 for our work

On the 19th October 8 or our trustees, staff and supporters walked the half marathon around Portland to raise funds for our work.

Accompanied by 2 dogs the team walked the 6 hours journey in good spirits passing the two prisons on the Isle, the Verne and Portland YOI, where several of our service users are serving their sentence.

Chairman Jennie Paterson said:

Well, we made it. Yesterday, we (plus 6 others and 2 dogs)walked the 14 miles of the coastal path around the Isle of Portland, in perfect weather. It only took us 3 and a half hours longer than it took Eliud Kipchoge to run 26 miles. Thank you for your kindness and generosity in supporting The Footprints Project.

We have raised a staggering £12717 to date, including a pledge for £5000. If you would like to donate there is still time -we will leave the link open until the 30th October.

Our Vision

Giving vital support to vulnerable people who’ve been impacted by prison and the criminal justice system. Helping to build safer communities and brighter futures across Dorset and Hampshire.
Mentoring

There are many ways we help people who are impacted by prison and the criminal justice system, always with the individual and their experiences in mind.
Approved Premises

Prisoners who are classified as “high risk of harm to the public” often reside in Approved Premises run by the National Probation Service for the first 3-6 months after release. They can be a long way from home, isolating them from positive influences such as friends or family support and making it difficult to secure employment. To address these needs, we are piloting three support and employment schemes at Glogan House, Bridgwater, Dickson’s House, Fareham and the Grange, Waterlooville.

Female Out of Court Diversionary Scheme

In partnership with Dorset Police and PCC we have developed Out of Court Diversionary Scheme for women at the point of arrest for the first time or those who have a previous criminal record but have not offended in the past 2 years and are classified as vulnerable. These women are given a conditional caution and opportunity to work with us rather than progressing to court. Vulnerabilities include mental health problems, women living in coercive or controlling relationships, domestic violence
